Difference Between Filtration and Clarification of Milk | Filtration, and Clarification in Detail

You must be aware that the raw milk that is produced on the farm and collected on dairy has a lot of impurities. These are both visible and invisible impurities that include straw, hairpieces, dust, leucocytes (white blood cells), insects, and many others.


These not only give an unsightly appearance but also pose a problem during the processing of milk. The larger foreign matter such as straw, hair, and insects are removed using the filtration process, where milk is passed through a metal sieve. For this purpose, tubular sieves are located in the milk inlet pipe.


But, in order to remove the finer matter like bacteria, and dirt, the process called clarification is used.
